King Charles III, accompanied by his sons William and Harry, and their wives Princess Kate and Meghan Markle along with the other family members came together for the service, that followed the procession of the late Queen’s coffin from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday, where it is slated to be stationed until the funeral and burial on Monday, September 19, 2022.
Both the Duchesses dressed subtly following the dress code. They wore black respectively, which is said to be the official colour code for funerals. Also noticed, was the fact that both were wearing veils, which were attached to their fascinators, a royal formal headpiece.
According to reports, royal women are expected to wear traditional black veils at funerals.
As per Independent.co.uk, these are called “mourning veils”, since they symbolise grief and suggests that the wearer is in mourning. The black lace is also considered to be practical since it allows the wearer some privacy to express their emotions.
The female members of the royal family were also spotted wearing veils at Prince Philip’s funeral, in April 2021.
