India vs Australia: Former India head coach John Wright took a sharp dig at the Australian cricket team after their innings defeat in the first Test match at Nagpur.

By India Today Web Desk: India routed Australia in the first Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 by an innings and 132 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ran through the Australian team in both innings, helping the team win on Day 3 of the Test match. Former India coach John Wright took a sharp dig at the Australian team and wrote on Twitter that winning Tests in Pakistan and Sri Lanka does not equip a team to play India in the subcontinent.
“Australia now realising that sneaking a 1-0 in Pakistan or not losing in Sri Lanka doesn’t necessarily equip you for India. Different level of a subcontinent challenge,” John Wright wrote on Twitter.
Australia come into the four-match Test series as the top ranked Test team in the world. The Pat Cummins side has defeated every team in their backyard. The team travelled to Pakistan and won the three-match series 1-0 in the flat tracks and held Sri Lanka to a 1-1 draw away from home.
Coming into the India series, Australia practised in scuffed pitches at Sydney and then did a camp at the outskirts of Bangalore. However, the team looked way off in terms of their technique as the Indian spinner picked up 16 out of 20 wickets from the 96 overs that they bowled in the Nagpur Test match.
Australia will have to find a lot od spirit to get back from the Nagpur hammering. The team will face India in New Delhi on 17 February for their second Test match.
