It’s been a few months since the release of the NIRF Ranking 2022 and the process to calculate the ranks for 2023 is underway. We at ‘careerindia’ will try to stick our neck out and predict the toppers of 2023 ranking for each category. Let’s begin this interesting journey and see how it pans out.
NIRF Ranking 2023: Overall Category
Below is the list of the top 5 for 2022. IIT Madras has been the reigning monarch for quite some time. Though we expect some challenges from the IISc Bangalore in 2023, we believe the table will pretty much stay the same.

2023 Ranking: IIT Roorkee is ahead by a fair margin and others will have a very tough job toppling it from the pole position. We expect the 2023 ranking to remain pretty much the same as in 2022.
MoE Adds Agriculture and Allied Sectors Category, NIRF Ranking Registration Ends on November 18
Points to Remember about NIRF Ranking
Recently the Ministry of Education has added a new category – “Agriculture and Allied Sectors” – to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings 2023 bringing the total number of categories to 12. These 12 categories are as follows: Overall Best, Individual Colleges, Universities, Management Institutes, Pharmacy Colleges, Engineering Colleges, Medical Colleges, Law Colleges, Architecture Colleges, and Dental Colleges.
The Indian institutions are evaluated by NIRF in the 5 key areas such as Teaching-learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
History: The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was adopted and launched on 29th September 2015. The first ranking was published in 2016 on 4th April.
