At least 25 students have bagged offers with salary packages over Rs 1 crore per annum. IIY-M has also recorded the highest-ever pre-placement offers this year. According to the reports from the institution, this year’s placement is nearly 10 per cent higher than the last year’s. While speaking to the media, Student Academic Affairs Secretary at IIT Madras, TB Ramkamal said that the return to an in-person mode of placements was well received by both students as well as recruiters. He said that institution is hoping that the reason behind the result in higher placements could be a new hybrid arrangement that enhanced the quality of student-employer interaction. A total number of offers made was over 400.
The top companies that offered the majority of the offers to IIT-Madras this year are Texas Instruments (14 students got placement here), Bajaj Auto Ltd and Chetak Tech Ltd offered the job to 10 students, Qualcomm (8 offers), J P Morgan Chase and Co (9 offers), Proctor and Gamble (7 offers), Morgan Stanley (6 offers), Graviton (6 offers), McKinsey & Company (5 offers) and Cohesity (5 offers). This year IIT Madras topped the NIRF Rankings by the Government of India with a score of 87.59.
IIT Guwahati
A total of 290 offers were made by 84 companies during day one at IIT Guwahati. Most of the students got placements in Software Development Engineering, Quant, Core engineering, UX Designer, VLSI, Data Science, Analyst, Product Designer, Vehicle Engineering, etc.At least five students have bagged offers of Rs 1 crore package and two international offers so far.
In NIRF Rankings 2022, IIT Guwahati stands at 8th position in overall rankings.
The main recruiters at IIT Guwahati: Texas Instruments, Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, C-DOT, Uber, Oracle, Nutanix, Enphase Energy, Thoughtspot MTS-2, American Express, JP Morgan Chase, Squarepoint SDE/Quant, Bajaj, Rippling, Cohesity, Tibra, and Sprinklr Platform + Product.
According to Abhishek Kumar, Head of the Center for Career Development, IIT Guwahati, the company officials from across the globe along with the students are excited to meet face to face. The face-to-face meeting happened for the first time after Covid 19 spread. Company officials interacted closely with the students and did the proper assessment of their potential. The one-to-one sessions were fruitful for both.
At IIT Roorkee
One student has got an international offer with a package worth Rs 1.06 crore. Another student has bagged an offer of Rs 1.30 crore from an Indian company. At least 10 students from IIT Roorkee have bagged a package of Rs 80 lakhs.
The placement sessions are going on across the IITs all over India. The news from other IITs is yet to come. The most awaited is IIT Powai and IIT Kanpur. The institute stands at 7th position in overall rankings done by NIRF, Government of India.
