India was represented by Shweta Sharda, a 23-year-old girl from Chandigarh, at the 72nd Miss Universe.
Born on May 24, 2000, in Chandigarh, Shweta is merely 23-years-old but has numerous feathers on her cap. Raised by a single mother, Shweta shifted to Mumbai when she was just 16 to focus and make her modeling as well as dancing career better. Today, she is a professional dancer and choreographer.
In August 2023, Shweta Sharda succeeded Divita Rai and was crowned the Miss Diva beauty pageant, post which she became quite famous and people started rooting for her to win India the next Miss Universe title.
Shweta’s love for dance is evident through her participation and choreography in several Indian dance reality shows. From Jhalak Dikhla Jaa to Dance India Dance, she has featured in all of the major dance shows.
While Shweta Sharda qualified for semi-final and was one of the top 20 contestant, she was out of the competition in the evening-gown round where the top 10 contestants are picked for the next rounds.
A total of 84 contestants are competing for the coveted beauty contest this year.
Meanwhile, this is the first time that Pakistan has participated in the Miss Universe contest. The country is being represented by Erica Robin.
And Miss Miss Universe China 2023 Jia Qi withdrew from the 72nd Miss Universe contest due to visa issues. She will now compete in the next edition of Miss Universe.
