UPSC IRMSE Recruitment Test: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently stated that a two-tier examination would be held to recruit employees for the Indian Railway Management Service. To screen a sufficient number of candidates for the second stage of the examination, namely, the IRMS (Main) Written Examination, all eligible candidates must appear in the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, and a sufficient number of candidates will be screened for the IRMS (Main) Examination. UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2023 will be announced and held on February 1st and May 28th, respectively. Because the CSP Exam -2023 will be used to screen applicants for the IRMS (Main) Examination, the IRMS Examination -2023 will be announced in the same manner.
UPSC IRMS Exam Pattern
The IRMS (Main) Examination will consist of four papers with conventional essay-type questions:
- Paper A- One of the Indian languages chosen by the candidate from those listed in the Constitution’s Eighth Schedule. – 300 marks
- Paper B – English – 300 marks
- Optional Subject ‐ Paper 1 – 250 marks
- Optional Subject ‐ Paper 2 – 250 marks
- Personality Test – 100 marks
Papers A and B will constitute qualifying papers. However, the two optional papers will be evaluated for quality.
Optional Subjects: Civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and commerce and accounting are the elective disciplines.
Common Civil Services (Main) Examination and IRMS (Main) Examination candidates may choose any of the above-mentioned optional subjects for both examinations or choose separate optional subjects for these assessments (one for the CSE (Main) and one for the IRMSE (Main) as per the frameworks of these two examinations).
