When someone is trying to vent out their emotions to you, they may not want advice but just want you to listen and comfort them. If you are always imposing your advice on people, even when they don’t want to, people might just stop talking to you. If someone is anxious, they need you by their side for comfort, not for advice. This can make the person feel that you are not really interested in their problem but in solving it as soon as possible so that it doesn’t irk you.
