DC opener David Warner, left fans in laughter with his recent ad-flick, where he the Australia batter, featured alongside popular Indian director, SS Rajamouli. In the ad for Cred, Warner can be seen donning a persona inspired from Rajamouli’s popular movie – Bahubali, and his antics throughout the commercial, have made the video viral on social media. Warner has been popular for his love for Indian movies, which has been a constant element in his social media activities in the past. The video has garnered a lot of praise for Warner from a fans and cricketing personalities alike.

When it comes to their ads, Cred is popular for its out-of-the-ordinary creative approach involving famous personalities. Previously, Cred has also featured the likes of Rahul Dravid, Ravi Shastri, and Venkatesh Prasad in their commercials, which received their fair share of hype on social media. In the video, Rajamouli could be seen asking Warner for tickets to an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match, only for the batter to highlight Cred’s features. Warner then puts up a condition for Rajamouli, where he would have to cast the batter in his film in-exchange for a discounted ticket. This makes Rajamouli anticipate a chaotic end to the circumstances, and ultimately go against the whole plan.

A lot of fans have showered praise on the viral video, which also includes some cricketing figures. Aakash Chopra said it was time to give Warner an Aadhar card and make him an Indian citizen.

Indian cricket fans are no stranger to Warner’s connection to Indian pop-culture, which has even seen the Australia batter dance to popular playback songs for his social media posts. Warner even has a trademark celebration which is inspired from the popular Telugu film, Pushpa.

Apart from his antics, Warner’s phenomenal batting performance throughout his IPL career has also been a major reason behind his increasing popularity in India. The 37-year-old is the only overseas batter who is amongst the top-3 highest run scorers throughout the history of the tournament. The batter is one of the most dependable batting options in his current franchise, DC, which will also see him be in focus for their upcoming clash in IPL 2024 against LSG on April 14.
